Lappi Lappi Dreaming | Earth by Christine Nakamarra Curtis
The Story of Lappi Lappi Dreaming
The Lappi Lappi rockhole is a vital, permanent water source surrounded by rich bush tucker country. In the Dreamtime, this site is home to ‘warnayarra’, the powerful Rainbow Serpent, believed to travel underground between rockholes. The story recounts how women and children gathered there, singing and dancing. When the ‘warnayarra’ heard them, it silently approached underwater, emerging to consume them all.
